4 a.m. crickets

you are you!

4 a.m. crickets

Polyrhythmically my heart beats against the chirping of the crickets Peaceful but unharmonious the sounds push steadily into the night.

The out-of-sync makes me feel a bit lonely but also a bit special, (though they say you’re not special)

But just think! there’s billions of beating hearts on the planet and probably not one is in perfect sync with yours

“You’re not a snowflake,” they say. (and they’re right) A snowflake is merely a 6-pointed fractal crystallized from ice born in the sky to float to the ground Tiny and transient it fits in the palm of your hand. …No, you’re much more than that.

Your dimensionality is infinite yet still grows from one second to the next Your probability is zero yet still shrinks and shrinks with every step you take and every glance you make spawning brain signals and activations creating thoughts and memories far more precious and priceless than even the most delicate snow flower

If you ever feel a moment of doubt lie in your bed on a warm summer night close your eyes and listen to your heart sing its latest solo piece! off-beat to the sound of the crickets.
